Parking Charges Revised For Commercial Vehicles
Buyers and sellers stand to gain from relaxed parking regulations.

Retailers and owners of commercial vehicles such as G-plate lorries, vans and mini-buses are expected to benefit from lower season parking charges due to a revision in unladen weight for parking lots.

From 1 December, the Housing Development Board (HDB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) will allow commercial vehicles up to 1,800kg to use their season parking lots for S$65 to S$90 a month in residential areas and S$80 to S$180 in commercial areas.

The weight limit was revised upwards from 1,500kg to accommodate heavier diesel vehicles following the implementation of the Euro IV emission standard late last year.

The lower rates apply only if a commercial vehicle fits into a car lot. Bigger and heftier vehicles still need to be parked in designated lots with higher rates of S$120 to S$185 a month.

About 900 current season parking customers and 1,500 vehicle owners will gain from the revised parking regulations. Retailers will also be able to move more of their heavier models as buyers stand to save hefty amounts in season parking charges.
