The Singapore Workforce Development Agency wants to groom service support staff for the medical tourism industry under a pilot programme to be rolled out by September.
Some 100 training places will be identified in this scheme, which will rope in CTC Healthcare, Uniglobal Holidays, as well as Raffles Hospital and National University Hospital.
Currently, there is no code of standards for healthcare providers and their partners to follow when catering to the needs of this niche group, whose families accompany them here for surgical treatment.
Potential beneficiaries of this scheme also include mature workers, such as retired nurses, who can step back into the workforce to provide post-surgery follow-up services to medical tourists. - TODAY
