Arts Sector To Get S$115M Over 5 Years
Plans to develop Singapore into a global arts hub by 2015.

Arts firms and groups will benefit from more seed funding and facilities with the injection of S$115 million over the next 5 years to grow Singapore into a global arts hub.

Under the third phase of the Renaissance City Plan (RCP), new and improved arts assistance schemes will be introduced from early next year, including:

  • the Arts Residency Scheme to support housing costs of Singapore artists residing abroad and foreign artists living in Singapore
  • the expansion of the Arts Housing Scheme in 2010 to include another 15,000 square metres of housing space for artists, art businesses and specialised arts services
  • new arts-related courses for fresh graduates and mid-career professionals

The Government will also set aside S$180 million to refurbish Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall into an iconic arts venue by 2013.
