Subsidised Training For Healthcare Career Switch

Trainees get monthly allowance for 3-year course.

To encourage more professionals to switch to make a career switch to the healthcare sector, a 3-year Healthcare Professionals Conversion Programme (PCP) was launched yesterday.

PCP commences in April 2009 and will offer:

  • training to become registered nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and diagnostic radiographers
  • subsidies under Skills Programme for Upgrading and Resilience (SPUR) so that candidates only pay a total net fee of S$6,656
  • monthly allowance of S$900 - S$1,000 from a sponsoring hospital for the duration of the course

Trainees must serve a 3-year bond with their sponsoring hospital upon completion of training.

Healthcare PCP is administered by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP).
