Government Agencies & The Wholesale Trade Industry

Government agencies licence, regulate and provide funding and assistance for businesses. Here is a list of Government bodies that may be relevant to your wholesale trade business.

Singapore Customs

  • Singapore Customs is the lead agency that facilitates trade. It is responsible for the implementation of customs and trade enforcement measures including those related to Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and strategic goods.

  • Businesses involved in trading must register with Singapore Customs and obtain the necessary licences/permits to import, export or tranship their goods.

International Enterprise (IE) Singapore

  • IE Singapore promotes the overseas growth of Singapore-based enterprises and international trade. It offers services to help businesses export, develop capabilities, find overseas partners and enter new markets.

  • IE Singapore provides basic information on export practices as well as assistance to overcome technical barriers. It also provides one-to-one company consultation on Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and organises industry or market-focused FTA seminars to help companies leverage on the various FTAs in Singapore.
