Why Do Businesses Join SRA?

  • SRA helps the retail industry develop their capabilities – manpower, branding, research & statistics, etc. – through events, seminars, workshops, training courses and consultancy services. Members get special discounts and rates.

  • SRA also provides marketing platforms for its members via its quarterly retail magazine, website, event sponsorships and direct mailing service.

  • In recent years, SRA has also been actively forming overseas partnerships and trade links to pave the way for their members to expand overseas. For example, SRA is a founding member of the Federation of Asia-Pacific Retailer Associations.

How Does SRA Work With The Government

  • SRA works with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and SPRING Singapore in several ways. For instance:

    • SRA, with the support of STB, organises the annual SRA Retail Industry Awards to recognise industry’s best while raising the standards, profile and image of the retail industry in Singapore.

    • SRA organises the annual Great Singapore Sale (GSS). The event, supported by STB, promotes Singapore as the region’s best shopping destination.

    • SRA, working with WDA and SPRING, develops training and skill certification programmes for the retail industry such as the National Retail Scholarships Programme.

    • SRA develops and improves the capabilities of retailers in Singapore by working closely with SPRING on industry-wide programmes.
