Foreign Workers & The Private Healthcare Sector

Healthcare establishments, like all other businesses, must comply with the general laws and regulations relating to the hiring of foreign workers. For details, please refer to our Hiring & Training section.

If you intend to hire foreign workers, please take note of the following:

  1. You must be eligible to hire foreign workers.
    All applications submitted to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) by healthcare services establishments will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. You may refer to information on the MOM website pertaining to:

  2. You must ensure foreign workers hold valid work passes.
    Those who are eligible to hire foreign workers must always ensure that foreign workers under their employment hold valid work passes.

  3. You must comply with conditions and responsibilities imposed by MOM.
    MOM imposes conditions and responsibilities on employers of foreign workers. For details, please refer to:

    At all times, please ensure that you comply with all the laws and regulations imposed by MOM. MOM conducts regular checks on healthcare establishments to ensure compliance.

    The penalties for non-compliance are severe. Under the Employment of Foreign Workers Act, first time offenders will be fined or imprisoned up to one year. Repeat offenders will be imprisoned for 1 - 12 months.
