National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF)

NICF is a manpower career development and planning tool for infocomm professionals and their employers.

Aims

  • To increase the infocomm competency of infocomm professionals through skills training, assessment and certification developed by industry experts with IDA and WDA.

  • To provide career progression paths for infocomm professionals by defining the certifications and competency requirements required for infocomm occupations.

  • Infocomm training providers.

For what?

  • NICF provides:

    • industry-recognised assessment and certification of infocomm professionals
    • career and skill progression paths for infocomm professionals
    • competencies for infocomm occupations
    • a comprehensive guide for infocomm occupations, training and certifications available

  • Employers of infocomm professionals can use NICF to:

    • set out job competencies which your staff need to achieve
    • identify competency gaps and training needs
    • send staff to NICF training programmes 
    • provide career and skill progression paths to employees
    • assess and certify the skills of employees 
    • recruit talent based on their qualifications under NICF

  • Infocomm professionals/students can use NICF to:

    • identify their personal skills upgrading and career path through a self-assessment checklist on the NICF portal
    • assess their own competencies for infocomm jobs
    • take up relevant training, assessment and certification courses

  • Infocomm training providers can use NICF to:

    • get their courses accredited/mapped under the NICF framework
    • develop and deliver courses and certification programmes which are aligned to the competencies outlined in NICF
    • provide subsidised NICF course fees for participants who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
