Local Enterprise And Association Development (LEAD) For The Furniture Industry
Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), with support from LEAD, is rolling out programmes that will significantly benefit the furniture industry as a whole.

Aims

  • LEAD funds and assists industry associations who have taken the lead to embark on projects which will result in significant benefits for the whole industry.

For who?

  • LEAD supports projects by SFIC that raise the capabilities of the furniture industry.

  • Furniture companies who are SFIC members can participate in LEAD-supported projects run by SFIC.

For what?

  • The funds and assistance that SFIC receives under LEAD will be used to:

    1. Develop talent and manpower by:

    • creating the Designer Entrepreneur Development Programme to help young designers in Singapore and the region to kickstart their careers and launch prototypes into international markets 

    • raising the profile and standards of the annual Furniture Design Award to nurture budding design talents

    • establishing a regional Furniture Learning Institute to provide nationally-recognised training and certification upgrade.

    2. Help local businesses tap into international markets by:

    • building Singapore’s first furniture export centre - International Furniture Centre (IFC) – to showcase the latest furniture collections and develop business-matching services

    • organising overseas missions to pick up best business practices,  innovative ideas and networking

    • mentoring local businesses to export their products through the New Exporters Program (NEP) to enhance the industry’s visibility, thus attracting more international buyers and growing Singapore’s global market share

  • LEAD supports and funds industry associations/councils, not businesses. 

  • Furniture businesses benefit from LEAD by participating in LEAD-supported programmes and services pro
