Process Industry Re-Skilling For Employment (PRocEss)
Is your business in the process industry? Get a grant to train new employees without industry experience.

For who?

  • Singapore-based businesses in the engineering services, petrochemical and refining sectors who wish to hire and train employees without prior industry experience.

  • Individuals who wish to acquire skills for jobs in the engineering services, petrochemical and refining sectors.

  • Trainees under this grant must be unemployed Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.

For what?

  • To encourage businesses in the engineering services, petrochemical and refining sectors to hire jobseekers without industry experience by subsidising the costs of training inexperienced new employees.

  • From the jobseeker’s perspective, PRocEss encourages those without prior industry experience to re-skill and take up jobs in the industry.

  • The grant can only be used for the “Basics in Process Plant Maintenance” course conducted by the Chemical Process Training Centre (CPTC) on Jurong Island.

How much?

  • The training grant amount is based on the age and academic qualifications of the trainee.

    Type Of Trainee Course Grant Per Trainee* Absentee Payroll Per Trainee*
    Trainees (40 years old and above, with 'A' Levels and below) 90% of course fees or S$16 per hour, whichever is lower S$6.80 per hour capped at 90% of basic hourly salary, whichever is lower
    Other Trainees 80% of course fees or S$8 per hour, whichever is lower S$6 per hour capped at 80% of basic hourly salary, whichever is lower

    *Funding for PRocEss is provided under the Skills Development Fund (SDF) and Skills Redevelopment Programme (SRP). Trainees have to achieve at least 75% attendance, and meet the examination requirements of the course in order to qualify for funding.

Things to note

  • Preferably, trainees should have at least a NITEC or equivalent certificate.

  • WDA may also shortlist potential trainees for your businesses. These are individuals who have applied directly to WDA or through the Association of Process Industry (ASPRI).
