Licences/Permits For All Arts, Entertainment & Recreation Businesses

All arts, entertainment and recreation businesses must obtain licences/permits to provide entertainment on premises, as well as run arts/entertainment performances or mass sports/recreation events.

Arts & Entertainment Events/Performances

  • Arts Entertainment (AE) Licence
    Media Development Authority (MDA)
    Get this licence to run arts and entertainment events for the general public (e.g. plays, music and dance performances, art exhibitions, pop concerts, poetry reading, story-telling, etc). You may need to submit supporting documents of your event (e.g. scripts, synopsis, photographs, stage layout, original song lyrics, etc.).

  • Public Entertainment (PE) Licence
    Singapore Police Force (SPF)
    Get this licence to provide free or paid entertainment (e.g. live music performances, cabaret shows, playing recorded music, etc.) at establishments that are accessible to the public (e.g. nightspots, karaoke lounges, bars).

  • Public Entertainment (PE) Ad-Hoc Licence
    Singapore Police Force (SPF)
    Get this licence to provide ad-hoc public entertainment such as beauty pageants/fashion shows, circus performances, magic shows. If you play recorded music at an arts/entertainment event for the general public, you will also need to obtain this licence as well as the Copyright Permit (for Ad-Hoc Events).

Mass Sports & Recreation Processions/Events

  • Police Permit For Assemblies/Processions
    Singapore Police Force (SPF)
    You may need this permit to organise any assembly or procession of 5 or more persons (e.g. walkathon, mass jog, road run, lantern festival foot procession, treasure hunt, etc.). If you are unsure whether a permit is required for your event/procession, please contact SPF.
