Step-by-Step guide on applying for ASFI
Before you apply
- Learn more about Animated Short Film Initiative (AFSI) on the Singapore Film Society (SFS) website.
- Download and read the ASFI Application Guidelines (PDF).
- Make sure your business, animated short film and project qualify. Call SFS if you need help.
- Prepare the supporting documents listed in the ASFI Application Guidelines (PDF). E.g. synopsis, storyboard or script, budget, production schedule.
Applying for ASFI
- Download and complete the AFSI Application Form (PDF).
- Submit the application form and supporting documents to:

- Wait 6 weeks for MDA’s reply.
- Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified on the outcome of their applications. Shortlisted applicants may need to attend a joint interview by MDA and SFS.
Upon successful application
- Receive MDA’s Letter of Offer.
Read the terms and conditions inside the Letter of Offer.
- Wait 60 days for first portion of the grant.
- Start on your project.
You must complete your project within 1 year of the date on the Letter of Offer. Claiming for funds
- Complete your project.
- Prepare a 2-page project development report that covers:
- the project development process
- observations
- lessons learnt
- future plans
- Submit claim form together with:
- a full budget report
- receipts of expenditure
- 2-page project development report
- Wait 90 days for MDA to approve your claim.
The second half of the grant or remaining claims, whichever is less will be disbursed to you. For more info
