Regulatory Checklist:
Setting Up A Telecommunications Business

Thinking of setting up a Telecommunications business (telecommunications dealer, exporter etc.)?  Use this regulatory checklist as your guide.

It sets out the minimum steps you need to take in order to comply with regulations when starting an infocomm business.

Please note that this checklist does not cover non-regulatory matters such as accounting, budgeting and product pricing.

1. Register Your
Business

6. Obtain A SBO (Class/Individual) Licence
You must apply
for either a SBO
Class or Individual licence if your
business provides telecommunications services or mobile content.

7. Obtain A Telecommunications Dealers’ Licence
You must apply for
this licence if your business manufactures,
imports, lets for
hire, sells, or
offers or
possesses for
sale any telecommunication equipment.
Optional 7 working days. S$250 per annum.
8. Obtain Other Licences/Permits
You Need

Take stock of the activities you will be carrying out in your business. Some of these (e.g. using a
TV for staff
training) require licences/permits.
