Registering Your Singapore Domain Name

Singapore domain names or web addresses are issued by the Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) Pte Ltd. A Singapore domain name is any web address that ends with “.sg”.

What Types Of Domain Names Are Available?

  • There are currently 7 types of domain names.

    Type of domain name Who can register?
    com.sg
    (E.g. www.abc.com.sg)
    1. Local businesses registered/registering with the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA).

    2. Foreign businesses registered/registering representative offices with International Enterprise (IE) Singapore.

    3. Local businesses registered/registering with professional bodies (e.g. law firms and accountants).
    net.sg
    (E.g. www.abc.net.sg)
    Network providers or info-comm operators with valid licences from the InfoComm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). For detailed eligibility requirements, please see “net.sg Requirements”.
    org.sg
    (E.g. www.abc.org.sg)
    1. Organisations registered/registering with the Registry of Societies (ROS).

    2. Any other organisations legally established in Singapore (e.g. Town Councils and Community Centres).
    gov.sg
    (E.g. www.abc.gov.sg)
    Government organisations in Singapore including Ministries, Organs of State and Statutory Boards.
    edu.sg
    (E.g. www.abc.edu.sg)
    Educational institutions registered with the Ministry of Education (MOE).
    per.sg
    (E.g. www.abc.per.sg)
    Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents aged 21 years and above. Employment pass and work permit holders are not eligible.

    Anyone below the age of 21 will need parents, guardians or an immediate family member to apply on their behalf.
    .sg
    (E.g. www.abc.sg)
    Anyone, business or organisation with a Singapore postal address. Foreign applicants may also register provided they have a local agent with a valid Singapore postal address.
