Construction Re-Skilling For Employment Plus (CORE Plus)

Is your business in the construction industry? Get a grant to train new workers without industry experience to become tradesmen.

For who?

  • Singapore-based companies in the construction industry who wish to hire and train employees without industry experience to become tradesmen.

  • Individuals who wish to become tradesmen in the construction industry.

  • Trainees under this grant must be:

    • Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
    • physically fit
    • able to speak and write in English

  • Trainees should also have:

    • primary school education

For what?

  • To encourage construction businesses to hire jobseekers without industry experience by subsidising the costs of training inexperienced new employees to become tradesmen.

  • From the jobseeker’s perspective, CORE Plus encourages those without construction industry experience to take up jobs as tradesmen in the industry.

  • The grant can be used for CORE Plus Specialisation courses offered by the BCA Academy (formerly known as Construction Industry Training Institute).

  • There are 14 courses to choose from. Some of these are compulsory courses that tradesmen must attend before they can operate cranes. For a list of courses and fees, please download the CORE Plus Courses (PDF) from Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA)’s website.

How much?

  • The training grant amount is based on the age and academic qualifications of the trainee.
