Aerospace Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ)

The Aerospace WSQ is a structured national skills training and certification system for the aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry.

Aims
  • To provide a nationally-recognised skills certification system for technicians in the aerospace MRO industry.

  • To create a ready pool of technicians skilled to take on jobs in the aerospace MRO industry.

For who?

  • Businesses in the aerospace MRO industry that wish to send their workers for training and/or certification.

  • Individuals (jobseekers or displaced workers from other manufacturing sectors) who wish to work as technicians in the aerospace MRO industry.

For what?

  • Aerospace WSQ provides:

    • nationally-recognised assessment and certification of technicians
    • career and skill progression paths for technicians
    • competencies for occupations in the industry

  • You can use the Aerospace WSQ in a variety of ways, for example, you can use it to:

    • define job competencies that your employees need to achieve
    • identify competency gaps and training needs
    • design and obtain accreditation for in-house training programmes
    • send your employees for Aerospace WSQ accredited training programmes
    • provide career and skill progression paths for your employees
    • assess and certify the skills of your employees
    • recruit talent based on their qualifications under the Aerospace WSQ

How much?

Course Fee Funding (Under Skills Development Fund)
Provides funding for training courses and assessments.

Training and Assessment External 80% of course fees, capped at S$7 per trainee hour 90% of course fees, capped at S$11 per trainee hour

Assessment only External 80% of course fees, capped at S$11 per trainee hour and S$200 per assessment
In-House S$11 per trainee hour, capped at S$200 per assessment

Absentee Payroll Funding (Under Skills Redevelopment Programme)
Provides funding for every hour your employee is in training.
Workers Below 40 Years Old Employees Aged 40 Years & Above With ‘A’ Levels & Below
80% of hourly basic salary, capped at S$4 per hour 90% of hourly basic salary, capped at S$4.50 per hour

Things to note

  • To get funding for in-house training/assessment, your organisation and training programme must be accredited under WSQ.

  • To get funding for external training/assessment, please contact an accredited training provider. Contact WDA to get a list of accredited training providers.
