Animated Short Film Initiative (ASFI)

Are you in the film animation business?  Get a grant of up to S$40,000 for your 2D, 3D, Flash or claymation animated short film.

For who?

  • Singapore-registered companies:

    • with 30%-100% local ownership

  • Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who are:

    • at least 18 years old as at 1 January 2007
    • either the director or producer of the short film

For what?

  • To fund the production of animated short films up to 30 minutes in length by animation companies and individuals.

  • Your project must:

    • be carried out in Singapore
    • be original and you must hold all rights to the project
    • not have been previously produced, published or won any prize or award

  • The animated short film will:

    • be showcased at international film festivals and markets
    • be in any language but must carry English subtitles

How much?

  • Category A (For short films 3–15 minutes in length):

    • up to S$15,000 for major allowable costs per project

  • Category B (For short films 16–30 minutes in length):

    • up to S$40,000 for major allowable costs per project

  • Major allowable costs include:

    • manpower
    • hardware and software
    • intellectual property rights
    • professional services

Things to note

  • Do not start on your project until after you have submitted your application.

  • Category B applicants should have prior experience in producing animated short films.
