Key trade associations, with support from LEAD, are rolling out programmes that will significantly benefit the land logistics and port industries.
Aims
- LEAD funds and assists industry associations who are taking the lead to embark on projects which will result in significant benefits for the whole industry.
For who?
- LEAD supports joint projects undertaken by the 3 trade associations that raise the capabilities of the land logistics and port industries in Singapore.
- Businesses in the land logistics and port industries can participate in these LEAD-supported joint projects to benefit from LEAD.
For what?
The funds and assistance received by the 3 trade associations from LEAD will be used to:
- Establish a Training Centre for the land logistics industry
The Training Centre will focus on:
- upgrading the skills and IT proficiency of prime mover and forklift operators
- improving the safety standards, IT capabilities and expertise of those working in the land logistics industry
- Set up a Containerised Traffic System
The Containerised Traffic System will optimise the handling capacity of depots and ports by:
- enabling businesses and port authorities to plan and track the use of transport routes
- improving communications with truck drivers
- Organise networking sessions and overseas study missions
The networking sessions and overseas study missions will:
- provide opportunities for businesses to share knowledge on emerging trends
- expose businesses globally
- Create a one-stop web portal for businesses
The web portal will enable STA and CDAS members to:
- recruit employees
- share services (e.g. excess trailers, post outstanding jobs)
- stay informed of the latest events, seminars, etc.
Things to note
- LEAD supports and funds industry associations, not businesses.
- Businesses can benefit from LEAD by participating in LEAD-supported programmes and services.
Changes from 1 February 2009 - 31 January 2010
- LEAD is part of BUILD (Business Upgrading Initiatives for Long-Term Development) which helps businesses to strengthen their capabilities during the downturn for future growth.
- BUILD also provides higher funding support to industry associations for LEAD projects. This applies to new projects carried out from 1 February 2009 to 31 January 2010.
