Convene-in-Singapore Scheme (CiSS)

Get advice, assistance and funding to bid for and host an international arts event/exhibition in Singapore.

For who?

  • Singapore-registered arts groups, institutions, associations, organisations, clubs and societies that develop or promote the arts.

  • International arts organisations and associations who wish to establish a presence in Singapore may also seek advice and assistance from the National Arts Council (NAC) and Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau (SECB).

For what?

  • To promote Singapore as an ideal destination for regional/ international arts events by supporting local arts organisations in their bid for, and hosting of, international arts-related events, meetings, conventions and exhibitions in Singapore.

  • Events that have received funding include the International Trombone Festival and the International Symposium on Electronic Arts.

  • You can get support to:

    Prepare For Your Bid Prepare For Your Event
    • Identify suitable international arts events to bid for

    • Obtain research/information on arts events or get in touch with overseas partners

    • Use Bid Kits containing free publicity materials and other collateral to prepare for your bid proposal and presentation

    • Coordinate site inspection visits before the bid
    • Source for service providers such as event organising companies

    • Get advise on protocol-related matters

    • Host international board members or official functions

    • Invite Guest of Honours for your event

    • Obtain local and international marketing and publicity support

How much?

  • CiSS provides:

    • subsidies on the membership subscription fee to an approved international arts association/society for the first year
    • subsidies on participation fees to approved international conferences/meetings
    • assistance in identifying suitable international arts events for bidding, including research on arts events, getting in touch with overseas partners, etc
    • assistance in preparing bid proposals (e.g. providing bid kits with sample proposals, video and print materials on Singapore’s art and convention facilities, etc.)
    • funding for overseas trips to bid for the event
    • seed funding to organise your event

  • The subsidy/fund amount provided will be determined by the nature and scope of your event.

Things to note

  • You will not be eligible to apply if:

    • your event has already commenced
    • you are already receiving funding from other NAC divisions, or have not submitted your evaluation report for a previous NAC grant
    • your event does not contain any arts element or is aimed at promoting a religious or social cause
    • you are a student group from any school/tertiary institute

  • Arts organisations who wish to pursue events-related training should apply for the Arts Professional Development Grant.

  • You must comply with the terms of the funding (e.g. acknowledging NAC and SECB on all publicity materials).

  • NAC reserves the right:

    • not to disclose reasons for approving/not approving an application
    • to review, withdraw or suspend its support in full or in part if any of its rules and instructions are not observed
