For who?

MERIT is for Singapore-registered businesses in the maritime industry which have:

• 30% - 100% local shareholding
  
  
• 0-200 employees (excluding crew members working on board vessels)*
  
  
• fixed assets worth S$0 - S$15M (excluding vessels and crafts)*
  
  
• business presence in Singapore, i.e. operating in Singapore

* Computed on a group basis.

For what?

• To help maritime businesses in Singapore defray the costs of IT projects for modernising and upgrading operations.
  
  
• IT projects supported by MERIT may involve:
  
  
  • automation or computerisation of key business processes
  • information management
  • connections to electronic business networks
    
    
• Examples of IT projects include:
  
  
  • customer relationship management
  • financial management
  • fleet management
  • human resource management
  • inventory management
  • ship management
  • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) connections

How much?

• MERIT funds up to 70% of the total IT project cost.

Things to note:

• You can still apply for MERIT if you have received MERIT funds before. However, the last grant you received must be more than 2 years ago.
