Hawker Stalls

Hawker stalls are ideal for small food retailers. They are managed by the National Environment Agency (NEA).

Who Qualifies?

  • To open a hawker stall, you must be:

    • a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
    • at least 21 years old
    • a non-bankrupt

  • Persons who have had their licences cancelled or revoked, or who have been de-registered or debarred, are not eligible.

  • Persons who operate 2 or more cooked food stalls within the same centre are also not eligible. This is applicable for cooked food stalls only.

Rental Rates

  • Rental rates are determined by tender, although there is a minimum tender amount determined by NEA.

  • The rates do not include water, gas, electricity costs or conservancy charges.

Tenancy Period

  • The tenancy period varies, but is usually 3 years.

  • The successful applicant has to pay a rental deposit equivalent to 2 months' rent.

Walk-In Scheme

  • You can also walk-in and rent hawker stalls directly from NEA. Under this scheme, stalls are rented out at market rates on 1 to 3-year tenancy periods.

  • You will also need to pay a rental deposit equivalent to 2 months' rent.

Things To Note

  • Remember to obtain the necessary licences and permits e.g. Food Stall Licence and Food Handler's Licence.

  • Do keep your stall clean and hygienic, as hygiene officers will be sent to check and grade your stalls . Your licence may be suspended or revoked if you fail to maintain good hygiene standards.
