Air-Con And Window Safety
- Owners of premises, whether business, industrial or commercial, must comply with the Building and Construction Authority's (BCA) laws on air-con safety.
- The BCA's laws on window safety apply only to residential buildings, but business owners are encouraged to follow BCA recommendations.
Air-Con
- Window air-conditioning units that are mounted onto a wooden frame around a wall or window opening need to be fitted with an additional stainless steel bracket for extra support.
- Air-conditioning units that do not project outwards or are installed on the exterior of the building, and units that are installed on landed property, are exempted.
Windows
- If the windows at your premises are of the casement type and have aluminium rivets, it is recommended the rivets be replaced with stainless steel rivets (Type 304).
- If you wish to install windows at your premises, you are encouraged to engage an approved window contractor.
